A community that follows Yeshua and keeps His commandments.
New Heart Church is a Torah-positive congregation. We gather every Saturday at 10:30 am in Chico, California, and you're welcome to come and see.
Yeshua is the Hebrew name of Jesus. It means “salvation.” Matthew 1:21
Who we are
We are a community of believers who follow the LORD Yeshua (Jesus), keep His commandments, and teach others to do the same (Matthew 5:17-19).
We confess that we were “once Gentiles in the flesh,” but we have been brought near by the blood of Christ. We are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God (Ephesians 2:11-19).
Our mission
To be a community of believers who embody the Great Commandment and embrace the Great Commission.
- The Great Commandment. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind, and love your neighbor as yourself. Matthew 22:37-40
- The Great Commission. Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Matthew 28:19
Our vision
To create a community where Torah-pursuant believers can have fellowship with like-minded people. We pray this community will grow to the point where the old mentor the young, friendships are formed, spouses are found, and correction in love sanctifies all.
We will grow until the Lord decides that those who travel to be with us should start their own communities in their home towns, fully supported by a network of Torah-pursuant churches.
Torah-positive faith
We do not obey commands in order to be saved. We do so because we are saved and want to express our love for our God.
We hold a positive view of obeying the commands of God found in both the Old and New Testaments. This view can be called Pronomian or One Law, if you are theologically inclined.
What matters most is the motive. Let your desire to obey come from your love for Yeshua and what He did for you.
How we live it out
We keep the weekly seventh-day Sabbath, from Friday evening at sunset to Saturday evening at sunset, as a day of worship, prayer, Bible teaching, and fellowship.
We also keep the annual Feasts of the LORD found in Leviticus 23, including Passover, Pentecost (Shavuot), and Tabernacles.
Our church is overseen by a group of elders who share equal authority and pastor the congregation together. Morgan Hill serves as our local elder. Our offsite elders are Traver Dougherty of Yeshua’s House in Roseville and Sam Walker, former pastor of Harei Yeshua in Paradise.
